Vasudev Bioinspired Nanomaterials

The Nanobiomaterials lab at UMass Dartmouth focuses on the synthesis and the applications of bioinspired nanomaterials, using techniques such as vapor phase deposition, solution-phase synthesis and electrospinning. We are also interested studying the interactions of nanostructures with biological materials, both in vitro and in vivo. Some of the applications include the development of coatings for implants, drug delivery, real-time chemical and biological sensors and nanobioelectronics.

Current projects are focused on the influence of peptide-based nanomaterials on the proliferation and differentiation of neuronal cells, drug delivery using peptide-based carriers and development of sensors inspired by ctenophores.
